Julie Turkewitz

Julie Turkewitz is a writer and photojournalist with a strong commitment to social justice issues.  As the project researcher at Talking Eyes Media she develops the team’s ideas, laying the groundwork for shooting in the field.

Prior to joining the TEM family, Julie spent nearly two years writing about AIDS and homelessness for the nonprofit Housing Works. She’s also interned at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Baltimore Sun and produced a multimedia piece about illegal immigration in Thailand. In 2008 and 2009 she lived in Argentina, where she was a correspondent for Glimpse.org.

She’s a graduate of the journalism school at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
