MOTT HAVEN: LIFE ON THE INSIDE

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) has been starved of federal funding for decades, leaving it unable to address the countless problems afflicting its tenants. The federal government has threatened to cut funding in its effort to push people out of public housing. But for half a million New Yorkers, NYCHA housing is the only viable option.

The people who reside there are making the best of a tough situation, but we rarely see them portrayed as anything but victims or criminals. Talking Eyes produced an interactive documentary about life in public housing in partnership with VERSE. The result is Mott Haven: Life on the Inside, which explores one neighborhood in the South Bronx through the lens of four individuals.
