Jennifer Gilmore | Kitchens for Good

Kitchens for Good, led by Jennifer Gilmore, provides a culinary apprenticeship program and on-the-job training to prepare individuals experiencing high unemployment rates for careers in the culinary and hospitality industries. While honing their skills, students in the program turn diverted food waste into meals for food insecure populations in San Diego. While several existing models combine an apprenticeship program with a social enterprise kitchen, Kitchens for Good appears to be the only nonprofit based in San Diego that merges the two approaches and serves both individuals experiencing unemployment and those struggling with hunger.
