Margaret Libby | MyPath
To strengthen the financial security of San Francisco’s Mission District, Margaret Libby founded MyPath in 2007 as a program of a credit union that later merged with my organization, Self-Help Credit Union. Driven by Margaret’s vision, MyPath has expanded into a leading national nonprofit organization, empowering young workers of color with financial knowledge, tools and behaviors to fight financial exclusion and build wealth. Recognizing that financial inclusion research and programs often overlooked young people (15–24 years old), Margaret led the development of the country’s first financial capability initiatives designed by and for youth: MyPath Savings and MyPath Savings2Credit. Now being adopted across California and in eight other states, these models integrate banking, saving and credit building into existing youth employment programs, transforming earnings into economic mobility.
